OK- these photos are difficult to see but that's really Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kathy Bates and the whole cast of the upcoming "Revolutionary Road" film! I was only nine rows back but you know camera phones! The worst photos...
Although the film is set for a Christmas release, I was VERY fortunate to see it at Paramount this past weekend and was shocked that the entire cast came in after the film for a Q and A. Wow! What starpower...I was wide-eyed and so, so impressed by their camaraderie, professionalism and sheer humor.
And it gets better... the screening was followed by a martini bar, which was very appropriate given the sheer number of martinis consumed in the film (accompanied by chain smoking of filterless cigarettes but that is, oh so politically incorrect, so no ciggie bar!) which takes place in the mid-fifties.
A disturbing, emotional yet beautifully crafted film from director (and husband of Kate) Sam Mendes. Although we are friends with the kids (Ty and Ryan Simpkins) who played Leo and Kate's offspring, this is not a film for kids...it is about adults and complicated marriages and complicated friendships and the complications of growing up and the responsibilities that entails.
Don't go see this film when you need a pick-me-up, but do go see it for the magnificent acting and stuning cinematography. An incredible performance by Michael Shannen as a lunatic, who may be the most sane one in the batch, is alone worth the price a ticket!
